Ken Loach‘s I, Daniel Blake (2016) movie trailer stars Dave Johns, Hayley Squires, Natalie Ann Jamieson, Colin Coombs, and Harriet Ghost. I, Daniel Blake‘s ploy synopsis: “Daniel Blake (59) has worked as a joiner most of his life in Newcastle. Now, for the first time ever, he needs help from the State. He crosses paths with single mother Katie and her two young children, Daisy and Dylan. Katie’s only chance to escape a one-roomed homeless hostel in London has been to accept a flat in a city she doesn’t know, some 300 miles away.

Daniel and Katie find themselves in no-man’s land, caught on the barbed wire of welfare bureaucracy as played out against the rhetoric of ‘striver and skiver’ in modern-day Britain.”

This looks like great drama with universal appeal with its main characters looking for work but not being able to find any. The desperation that these characters feel can be felt by the middle class all over the world. The film is already a Palme d’Or winner and its easy to see why. It’s strange that this film has not been scheduled for release in the United States yet. Since this film is not an effects blockbuster or star-driven epic, it’s not that hard to imagine why.

I, Daniel Blake also stars Micky McGregor, Julie Nicholson, Sharon Percy, and Hayley Squires.
