Thoughts on This Week’s In-home Releases

The Last Kingdom is a great TV series that probably looks even better on Blu-ray. I received the heads-up on the Saxon / Dane TV series in a thread in IMDb’s now defunct message board. After watching the first two episodes in Season One, I was hooked. I have seen every episode. If you like History’s Vikings, you will like The Last Kingdom.

FilmBook writer Nick DeNitto wrote a Blu-ray review for The Blackcoat’s Daughter that you can read here.

A Cure for Wellness looks like a visually stunning film while space horror film Life looks pretty predictable. The Martin Scorsese film picks in The Criterion Collection’s World Cinema Project are very interesting. Many of the films I have never heard of before but they greatly influenced Scorsese and the way he saw and approached cinema.
