Independence Day: Resurgence Super Bowl TV Spot. Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) Super Bowl 50 TV commercial has been released. The commercial features a football game, a singer singing a patriotic song before an air fight breaks out in the skies above the football stadium between Earth fighters (one flown by Liam Hemsworth) and alien fighters. There is also the moment when ex-President Whitmore (Bill Pullman) says “Their coming back.” He couldn’t have been more right. David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) also shows up in the TV spot and says: “What goes up must come down,” referring to a part of a building that crashes back to Earth.
