INDIANA JONES (2019): David Koepp To Write Screenplay

Harrison Ford Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

David Koepp will write for the new Indiana Jones movie. The veteran screenwriter will work on the much-anticipated fifth installment of the Lucasfilm adventure franchise.

Having served on the series’ last entry, 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Koepp is very familiar with the material he will be working with. On top of his experience with the franchise, Koepp has written screenplays for other action-packed blockbusters like Jurassic Park, Mission Impossible, Spider-Man (2002), and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

Koepp of course, is far from the only Indiana Jones alum returning for the sequel. Much has been made over the involvement of not just series lead Harrison Ford, but Steven Spielberg as well, who directed Ford in 1981’s Raiders of The Lost Ark. Against this backdrop, fans can likely rest assured that the planned film will have at least some of the magic of the original films:

To be fair to Koepp, he had the unenviable task of trying to cobble together a coherent script for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull from prior drafts written by George Lucas, Jeff Nathanson and Frank Darabont.  This time around, it appears that Koepp will have the freedom to develop his own ideas.

Currently the film is scheduled to go against Inhumans (07/12) at the box office but expect Inhumans to shift to another date.

Ford was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and expressed his excitement for the project.
