Anson Mount Cast As Black Bolt In Marvel’s Inhumans Series

Hell on Wheels star Anson Mount is set to headline ABC‘s planned TV series based on Marvel‘s Inhumans as Black Bolt.

Having appeared in guest roles in such noteworthy programs as Ally McBeal, Sex and The City, and Law and Order, Mount had quite the TV resume before finally breaking through as former Confederate soldier Cullen Bohannon on the previously-mentioned Wheels, starring in the AMC Western drama for five years.

Now, the actor is set to play the King of the Inhumans, a mysterious figure who possesses the strength to level entire cities with nothing more than a whisper. He will act alongside Iwan Rheon, who is slated to play Black Bolt’s brother Maximus.

Deadline, the source of this story, quotes Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb and showrunner Scott Buck as saying the following about Mount’s casting in the series as well as the character he will portray in it:

“Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently,” said Loeb, Head of Marvel Television. “His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing, almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”

Added Buck, “Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life.”
