Chad Stahelski Announces That The Script For John Wick 3 Is Currently Being Written
John Wick director Chad Stahelski says that work has commenced on the script for the planned sequel John Wick 3.
Making his proper directorial debut with this year’s sequel John Wick: Chapter 2, Stahelski also worked on the original movie but served as a co-director alongside David Leitch. Prior to this, he worked as a stuntman, most notably doubling for Brandon Lee in The Crow after the actor died just days before shooting on the production ended. Most recently, he has been tapped to helm Triple Threat.
No release date has been offered for the proposed follow-up. Comingsoon.net, the source of this story, quotes Stahelski as saying the following about the upcoming sequel:
“We’re currently in the middle of writing it right now,” he tells the outlet. “…It’s more of a how fast can we get our sh** together. But I would assume that if not by the end of this year, the beginning of next year.”
Stahelski’s involvement with the project is unclear, however, with him explaining that he is not quite acting as director at the moment but definitely interested in doing so:
“Currently I’m acting as prep director,” he explained. “Hopefully everything will work out time wise. Of course — I would love to… If you really watch the first and second one, there’s only one place it can go — so I’ll let you sort that out.”
