IM Global To Produce Comic Adaptation Judge Dredd: Mega City One

IM Global teams up with Rebellion Developments and Tencent and Tang Media Partners to produce a new TV series titled Judge Dredd: Mega City One.

A favorite of comic fans since the comics’ initial debut in 1977, Judge Dredd has been adapted for the big screen twice before. The first movie, starring Sylvester Stallone as the titular anti-hero, came out in 1995 and proved to be both critically and financially unsuccessful, while the second was released in 2012 and featured Karl Urban as the lead. It too proved to be a flop at the box office, but critical reception was much more positive and fans continue to hold out hope for a follow-up.

Departing from the focus on Dredd in the comics and films, the planned series will follow a team of Judges as they try to maintain order in a dystopian future where the bulk of humanity is crammed into giant metropolises called Mega Cities.

Per Superherohype, the source of this story:

“We’re very excited to be beginning the journey to get more of Judge Dredd’s Mega-City One on the television screen,” said Rebellion owners Jason and Chris Kingsley. “Thanks to the legions of fans who have kept up pressure on social media, and a lot of background work and enthusiasm, we aim to make a big budget production that will satisfy both our vast comics audience and the even greater general screen-watching public.”
