Syfy Picks Up Pilot for Prequel Series Krypton. It’s been a while since we last heard about David S. Goyer’s latest TV project Krypton, but we finally have an update about the upcoming Superman prequel series. Syfy is closer than ever to picking up the pilot for the series.
It’s been about 18 months when we first found out about Krypton being developed for Syfy. TVLine now has word that the network is about to close in on a deal to get the pilot for the new series. The show has Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer at the helm as he and EP Damian Kindler will work on the series. Kindler will also be serving as the showrunner for the show. The two men have been hard at work rewriting the first episode, and it also looks like British director Colm McCarthy will be directing the pilot as well.
The series is set two generations before the planet’s destruction as we follow the story of Kal-El’s grandfather, who tries to bring back honor into the House of El while saving this homeworld from chaos. If the series does get picked up to series, we can expect it to premiere sometime this fall. With Krypton airing on Syfy, it wouldn’t be surprising if the network orders a small episode count if they plan on creating the world of Superman’s home planet with a small budget.
