Last Days Short Film. Kathryn Bigelow’s Last Days (2014) short film has been released. The Kathryn Bigelow short film chronicles the illegal ivory trade going on it various parts of the world. You notice something unusual with this short film. Instead of running forward with its narrative, its runs backwards.
The short film illustrates that “An elephant disappears every 15 minutes.”
“Last year I was made aware of the very real connection between elephant poaching and terrorism,” Bigelow tells TIME. “For me it represented the diabolical intersection of two problems that are of great concern — species extinction and global terrorism. Both involve the loss of innocent life, and both require urgent action.”
The end of the short film is hard to watch for obvious reasons. “The film’s official website offers a comprehensive selection of ways you can contribute to the cause” against illegal elephant killing.
