The Last Face‘s plot synopsis: “The Last Face centers around a love affair between Dr. Miguel Leon (Academy Award winner, Javier Bardem), a relief-aid doctor, and Dr. Wren Petersen (Academy Award winner, Charlize Theron), the director of an international aid organization.
Set against the devastating backdrop of war-torn Liberia, Miguel and Wren must find a way to keep their relationship alive in extraordinarily difficult conditions battling their mutual passion for the value of life matched by the intensity of their diametrically opposed opinions on how best to solve the conflict that surrounds them.”
This film is really timely with what is happening with in Aleppo, Syria. The Last Face will remind the viewer of Beasts of No Nation. The acting seems top notch, with Charlize Theron and Javier Bardem carrying the bulk of the weight. I was happy to see Adèle Exarchopoulos show up as well. She made quite an impression in Blue is the Warmest Color.
The Last Face also stars Sibongile Mlambo, Hopper Penn, Ebby Weyime, Bronwyn Reed, Irina Miccoli, Sarah Muhoho, Christopher Stein, Oscar Best, and Justin Miccoli.
