LEGENDS OF TOMORROW: Johnathon Schaech To Play Jonah Hex [The CW]

Johnathon Schaech Legends of Tomorrow

Johnathon Schaech will appear in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. The Ray Donovan veteran will play the role of Jonah Hex on The CW‘s upcoming superhero drama.

Although the DC character previously appeared in a 2010 movie starring Josh Brolin, Jonah Hex was a critical and box office failure and the gun-slinging anti-hero was not featured in other DC projects. Hex’s appearance on Legends of Tomorrow will mark the character’s first appearance in a live-action DC program since the film. Per Comic Book Movie, the show’s official description of Hex describes him as follows:

“A true legend of the Old West, a morally ambiguous gunslinger with a penchant for danger. Surprisingly, he knows a thing or two about time travel and the future, but is at home in the Wild West. He’s been battling outlaws and gangs for awhile now, and advises the team to be extra careful when they arrive in the small town of Salvation.”

Hex is slated to appear in only one episode of the show so far, but it is possible that it may develop into a recurring role over time. Considering the Western-theme and background of the character as well as his previously-mentioned “morally ambiguous” nature, it will be interesting to see how he interacts with the other characters and ties into the show as a whole.

No pictures of Schaech in character have been released yet, but his acting resume shows he is well-suited to playing such a gritty figure. In addition to Ray Donovan, Schaech has appeared on several drama series like Quantico, Sleepy Hollow, and CSI: Miami.
