James Mangold Confirms Black And White Version Of Logan For Home Release
Logan director James Mangold says that he is already preparing to work on a black and white cut of the film when it comes out on Blu-ray.
Last week, it was claimed that Mangold would produce a color-free version of the superhero movie that would be available for purchase once the film ended its theatrical run. However, it was only today, when the director spoke to Deadline about the project, that he officially verified plans for the cut. Acknowledging that he and others involved with the production were surprised by the extent to which black and white was viewed as an impediment to audience enjoyment by some, Mangold nevertheless expressed excitement and said that the finished product will look “very handsome”.

Directed by James Mangold, “Logan” is set in the near future, years after the epilogue of 2014’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” In it, a weary Logan, whose healing factor is failing, cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, pursued by dark forces.
