Hugh Jackman Reiterates Logan Will Be Last Appearance As Wolverine
Academy Award-nominated Les Miserables star Hugh Jackman makes it clear that Logan will be the last time he plays Wolverine.
Although much has been made of the movie reportedly being Jackman’s last shot at the character, some have still clung to the hope that he might reprise the role for the planned Deadpool sequel, simply titled Deadpool 2, for a rematch with the titular mercenary. However, the actor put such speculation to rest in an interview with The New York Times, building on comments he made last week about going into the project with the mindset that it would be his last for the X-Men franchise and saying that he “absolutely” views it as such.
Lest anyone misinterpret his comments however, Jackman explained that he was only retiring from the role of Wolverine, not acting in general. CBR.com, the source of this story, quoted the Pan actor and shared the following information about Logan:
“Let’s be clear — I’m not retiring,” said Jackman. His “Logan” follow up, called “The Greatest Showman” which features Jackman as P.T. Barnum, is scheduled to open on Christmas Day.
Set beyond the events of “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” 2017’s “Logan” is set in the near future following a cataclysmic event that ravaged the mutant race. As a result, Wolverine’s healing factor will be greatly diminished.
