LOGAN (2017): Ryan Reynolds Hopes X-Men Film Isn’t Hugh Jackman’s Last

Ryan Reynolds Wants Hugh Jackman To Keep Playing Wolverine After Logan

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds said that he hopes Hugh Jackman will continue portraying Wolverine after Logan so that the two can face off as their respective characters once again.

Previously, the two Marvel characters appeared onscreen together in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where they were both portrayed by their current actors. However, that encounter and the film itself garnered a cool reception from both audiences and critics, leading to Fox rebooting the Deadpool character into a version more similar to that seen in the original comics. It is this iteration Reynolds hopes will meet and come to blows with Jackman’s Wolverine:

“I want Deapdool [sic] and Wolverine in a movie together,” Reynolds told Entertainment Weekly. “What we’re gonna have to do is convince Hugh. If anything, I’m going to need to do what I can to get my internet friends back on board to help rally another cause down the line.”

Reynolds, who held out hope for a Wolverine cameo in the first “Deadpool,” referred to Jackman as “one of the best human beings,” adding, “I genuinely love the guy.”

The actor recently revealed that he knew at the time that “X-Men Origins” was going to be a mess, and had even attempted to warn the studio. However, he was told that if he wanted to play Deadpool, this was his one shot.
