Los Angeles 1991‘s plot synopsis: based on the graphic novel Hot L.A. by Horacio Altuna, “Los Angeles, 1991. The streets are a hotbed of racial tension, ready to burst at any moment … Today is an important day for Eladio: he is going to avenge the death of his older brother. However, he will quickly discover he is not the only one who has reasons to kill today.”
This is one of the best short films that I have seen in some time. Firstshowing gave us the heads-up on this one. This was very impressive. The production value and camera work are full-length, motion picture grade or at least high-end TV grade.
Los Angeles 1991 started with a downtrodden hero, grounding the short, and gave the viewer someone interesting to root for during the narrative. As the story unfolded, it was very surprising.
