Matthew Vaughn In Talks To Helm Man Of Steel 2

Kingsman: The Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn is in the middle of negotiations to helm Warner Bros.‘ planned superhero film Man of Steel 2.

Vaughn, of course, is no stranger to the world of superheroes and comic book adaptations. Alongside the previously-referenced Kingsman (which was based on the comic book by Mark Millar), he has directed Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class, in addition to recently working on the Kingsman sequel The Golden Circle, which is set for release this coming October.

However, the report stresses that the talks are only in the “deal-making stage”, meaning that Vaughn’s involvement with the project is far from certain. That being said, the director is one of the primary contenders for the position, and it is likely that he will work with Warner Bros. on one of its many upcoming comic adaptations in the future.

CBR.com, the source of this story, had this to share about Warner Bros.’ efforts to reboot the Superman franchise:

There were reports in 2010 that Vaughn and “Kick-Ass” creator Mark Millar pitched a “Superman” movie to Warner Bros, but the studio decided to go with Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer version of the DC hero. Asked what it would take to create a successful “Superman” movie, Vaughn had an answer at the ready. “I think that’s the one thing not to do with Superman, trying to do the serious ‘The Dark Knight’ version,” he said.
