Mary Poppins Returns plot summary from Imdb:
In Depression-era London, a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael’s three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.
As a teaser, you’d think this particular promo wouldn’t reveal much, perhaps an allusion to the original film or a hint at what’s to come. But within the minute and 45 seconds we see anything, we get a very good look at the cast, including several of the child actors, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and of course Emily Blunt as the titular character. Blunt, it must be said, is deliciously self-satisfied as Poppins, mugging into the mirror but thankfully projecting the sort of presence to make such behavior acceptable.
Interestingly, the stormy weather that dominates most of the trailer differs from the light-hearted tone of the original film, if not necessarily in terms of content than in terms of how ominously gritty it is portrayed.
