MEEK’S CUTOFF (2010) Movie Trailer: Kelly Reichardt, Michelle Williams

Michelle Williams, Meek's Cutoff

The Meek’s Cutoff Movie Trailer has premiered. Kelly Reichardt‘s Meek’s Cutoff (2010) stars Michelle WilliamsBruce GreenwoodPaul Dano, Zoe Kazan, and Will Patton. Meek’s Cutoff‘s plot synopsis: “The year is 1845, the earliest days of the Oregon Trail, and a wagon team of three families has hired the mountain man Stephen Meek to guide them over the Cascade Mountains. Claiming to know a short cut, Meek leads the group on an unmarked path across the high plain desert, only to become lost in the dry rock and sage. Over the coming days, the emigrants must face the scourges of hunger, thirst, and their own lack of faith in each other’s instincts for survival. When a Native American wanderer crosses their path, the emigrants are torn between their trust in a guide who has proven himself unreliable and a man who has always been seen as the natural enemy.” This is certainly not a flashy Western movie like True Grit (2010) but more of the subtle kind like The Proposition. I remember TNT’s Into the West and Dances with Wolves bestowed upon the viewer a desperate and disquieting view of the west, its inhabitants, and the prairie. Meek’s Cutoff seems like the same. Watch the Meek’s Cutoff movie trailer below and leave your thoughts on it. Meek’s Cutoff will be released in theater on April 8, 2011.
