Stephen Chow has made some of my favourite comedies of all time. If you like to laugh and have never heard of this guy, do yourself a favour and check out Shaolin Soccer (2001) and Kung Fu Hustle (2004). They are laugh-out-loud hilarious, visually inventive, and thoroughly exciting and enjoyable. He’s like a Chinese Edgar Wright, in a sense, regarding his comedic and directorial sensibilities.
In any case, this trailer should make you laugh regardless of context. (As a sidenote: can we have more trailers like this, please? Its a minute long, has only two scenes paralleling each other, and constructs one beautiful joke and that’s that.)
