Michael Bay Talks About Possibly Directing Marvel Or DC Comics Films

Transformers: The Last Knight director Michael Bay considered his chances of working on movies for Marvel or DC Comics.

The issue was broached during an interview with the director for Collider. Asked about if he was interested in working with either company, Bay said that while he enjoyed the movies they have made he would not want to make any himself, citing his disinterest in working on a property that somebody has already mapped out and created:
“I really liked Civil War. I like a lot of the Marvel movies,” Bay said. “When I saw Iron Man, it broke a lot of new ground for me, and it was a great character. Funny, witty, I liked that about it.” However, he added that he does, “wonder where [superhero movies] are going to go,” due to the fact that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War have, “almost the same setup.” So, will he he try to shake things up by offering his own take?
“I wouldn’t want to, it’s not my thing, it’s just not my gig,” Bay explained, saying he has a greater interest in creating his own universe – as he did with Transformers – rather than stepping into one that’s already started. “I don’t ever wanna take someone like a third of something or second of something.
