I’ve been waiting for this for a long time, anticipating the moment since I wrote my first film review (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) if anyone cares). The day when I would receive a film screener in the mail to review free of charge, no strings attached. A “screener is an advance video or DVD copy of a film sent to critics, awards voters, video stores (for their manager and employees), and other film industry professionals, including producers and distributors.” I’d heard about critics receiving screeners in the mail for years and envied them, thinking to myself: “Why can’t I get that? How and when will I rate to receive this privilege?” That day happened some weeks ago and I most say it’s about time. The movie in question was Severe Visibility, which I watched, reviewed and posted.
One final note: Screeners are always welcome at Film-Book dot Com and will receive the same attention as a film viewed in the movie theater.
