Warner Bros. Obtains Rights to Develop Film Version of Nemesis. Nemesis has been stuck in development for years when 20th Century Fox picked it up but now it is back on track because Warner Bros. has now acquired the rights to the comic book limited series.
The Tracking Board reported that Mark Miller’s comic book miniseries would be developed by Warner Bros. as a feature film. The highly successful comic series had taken years to develop into a movie and hasn’t been word on it ever since. It may be because of the sad passing of director Tony Scott. Ever since that happened, The Grey director Joe Carnahan took the reins and rewrote the screenplay alongside his brother Matthew Michael Carnahan. The two brothers are still going to be involved with the project like they did with Fox. Joe Carnahan will still be directing the film adaptation.
It will be strange seeing Warner Bros. handle a film based on a comic published by Marvel’s Icon property, especially with the studio currently handling DC Comics’ line of films. Published in 2010, the limited series asks the question, what if Batman were the Joker? It follows the exploits of billionaire Matt Anderson as he becomes hell bent on revenge for the death of his parents. By becoming a costumed villain, Anderson starts terrorizing the police to stop those who were involved in his parents’ murder.
