Marvel Working on Superhero Comedy Series New Warriors. Squirrel Girl is about to appear as one of the star characters in a series being developed by Marvel and ABC Studios. The comedy series, titled New Warriors, will be shopped to cable and streaming outlets.
According to TVLine, New Warriors is being described as a junior version of The Avengers, with the squad made up of super powered teens. One of the heroes will include Doreen Green, who is also known as Squirrel Girl to fans of the comic book character. Squirrel Girl has more than just the ability to communicate with the squirrel population; she also has super speed and strength.
The character Squirrel Girl made headlines when actress Anna Kendrick said that she wanted to play the cheeky character on the big screen after her brother sent a copy of the comic and showed interest in it. Perhaps she can take on the role for the small screen? Squirrel Girl made her debut on the animated series Ultimate Spider-Man. The New Warriors made their comic book debut in 1989 and has since changed their roster of heroes over the years. Marvel and ABC Studios haven’t released any information confirming the development of the series.
