The Last House on the Left remake. Oh Christ no.

I can not believe they are daring to remake this movie. The original could never be released in its entirety in theaters today. Its not that The Last House on the Left is over the top violent like Hostel or the Saw franchise, its that they show real human depravity and very authentic suffering in the film, something rarely shown in horror films these days. When I first watched this film a few years ago, I could not believe what I was seeing. I have only watched the film from beginning to end once. This film is really hard to sit through but because of its content, Wes Craven earned my respect as a director. If you have ever read American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis, you already have an idea of how uncomfortable you will be. I liked Craven because of the first Scream and A Nightmare on Elm Street films but after seeing Last , I looked at him in a whole new light. It takes guts to film what he filmed and put his name on it at the end of the day. I watched the documentary of this film and Wes Craven was actually writing the script as he was filming the movie. Pages would disappear because crew members were taking them to see what would happen next. Will this remake generate that type of enthusiasm? Hell no. Did the remake of Black Christmas? Why can’t Hollywood come out with something original instead of repackage and watering down classics?
