THE NIGHT MANAGER: Special Screening and Q&A [AMC, Tribeca 2016]

Caryn James Susanne Bier Tom Hiddleston The Night Manager Premiere

Tribeca Film Festival Hosts Special Screening and Q&A for The Night Manager. The 2016 Tribeca Film Festival introduced audiences at the SVA Theatre to the AMC miniseries The Night Manager, which was followed by a Q&A with actor Tom Hiddleston and director Susanne Bier.

At the beginning of the panel, audiences were given an advanced screening of the first episode of the spy drama. The episode introduced audiences to Tom Hiddleston’s character Jonathan Pike and the antagonist Richard Onslow Roper, portrayed by Golden Globe winner Hugh Laurie. The miniseries, adapted from author John le Carre’s 1993 novel, received some great reactions and applause from the crowd. After the first episode, the audience was given a sneak peak into the second episode of the six-part series.

After the screening, film critic Caryn James moderated a Q&A with Tom Hiddleston and Susanne Bier talking about working on the miniseries. Susanne Bier, an acclaimed Danish director, touched on directing all six episodes of the miniseries and the process of adapting John le Carre’s book into the modern age. Tom spoke with audiences about acting and producing on the project, especially working alongside award-winning actor Hugh Laurie. The two of them brought in some good points on how being an actor and a spy have its similarities and differences, which is wonderfully portrayed on screen.

Following the conversation, audiences gave some questions to Susanne Bier and Tom Hiddleston about working in the miniseries. Both of them had some fun talking with everyone on what went behind-the-scenes in the espionage drama as well as the shooting schedule for the six episodes. The panel ended with a reminder that The Night Manager will have it’s television premiere on April 19th at 10PM only on AMC.
