Now In-Theater: March 3, 2017

The motion pictures now in-theater are from various Hollywood and independent movie studios. Some of the films are in wide release (600 screens or more in the United States and Canada) and some are in limited release (a motion picture that is playing in a select few theaters across the country [typically in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco]).

Weekend Impressions:

Logan will be the Number One film at the box office. Logan is said to be the best of the three solo Wolverine films (an extremely easy feat to accomplish). Logan is also receiving almost universal praise (a striking accomplishment considering  how many haphazard, damaged comic book films were released in the last year and a half). From what I have read, Logan is a lot more film than spectacle. When I read these thoughts and observations, I immediately thought of Unbreakable.

Get Out will be Second. Positive word-of-mouth will propel people to this film this weekend. Get Out is counter-programming for the two comic book films now in theater.  In addition, people will want to see what is all the fuss about.

The LEGO Batman Movie will be Third. The newcomers this weekend do not have enough buzz to beat the clout of the Bat.

Before I Fall will be Fourth. Tweens wanting a Groundhog Day of their own, and fans of the book, will go to see this film. Before I Fall looks like candy: completely disposable but fun.

John Wick: Chapter Two will be Fifth and will round out the Top Five at the Unites States box office.
