Alfred Pennyworth Prequel Batman TV Series to Air on Epix

With the announcement of the fifth and final season of Gotham, fans of the Fox TV show and Batman now have a Alfred Pennyworth prequel TV show on Epix to look forward to. The new TV series is skipping the pilot phase and is going straight-to-series with a ten episode, first season order.

Pennyworth will be a prequel TV series that details the origin of Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman’s butler Alfred Pennyworth. Pennyworth will feature Alfred Pennyworth “as a former British SAS soldier who forms a secret company and goes to work with Bruce’s billionaire father, Thomas Wayne, in 1960’s London.”

Many of behind-the-scenes people from Gotham will be a part of and guide the Batman prequel TV series Pennyworth. Pennyworth will be executive produced by Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon. Heller is Gotham‘s showrunner and will serve as writer and executive producer on Pennyworth. Cannon will direct the pilot episode of Pennyworth. Pennyworth‘s behind-the-scenes team also includes “Peter Roth, Susan Rovner, Brett Paul and the team at Warner Horizon.”

Sean Pertwee, who plays Alfred Pennyworth on Gotham, will not be reprising his role in the Batman prequel TV series. No role, including Pennyworth’s, have been cast yet for the Epix television show.
