NBC Orders Pilot for DC Comics Workplace Comedy Powerless. NBC hasn’t had much luck in developing DC shows lately after canceling Constantine, but the network hasn’t given up yet. That’s because NBC has placed a pilot order for Powerless, a DC-based workplace comedy.
Deadline reported that NBC has teamed up with A to Z creator Ben Queen for a new workplace sitcom in the veins of The Office but in the world of superheroes and villains. Powerless takes place in an insurance company within the DC universe. The show is described as “the reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains.” The show would add some humor and lightness in a superhero setting.
Produced by Warner Bros. Television, Powerless has only gotten a pilot commitment from NBC. There hasn’t been any news regarding with DC characters could make an appearance, but it’s “not expected to include the biggest DC brands like Batman and Superman.” It makes sense not being able to use big name superheroes, but yet the show does seem interesting and takes a different approach to the increasing popularity of the superhero genre. The show could even potentially feature some lesser known heroes and villains from the DC universe.
