NBC Pulls The Plug On Powerless Following Its First Season
NBC has decided to not move forward with future installments of the network’s DC Comics superhero comedy program Powerless.
The announcement comes in the wake of the network’s decision to drop the last three episodes of the show’s current season from their slot on Thursday nights. This most unceremonious axing of the season’s last few episodes served as an indicator to observers that NBC had little interest in pursuing the program further.
Unlike most shows’ set in the DC Universe, the series is a comedy that deals with ordinary people trying to make sense of a world in which superpowered beings walk the Earth and fight with each other. It stars Vanessa Hudgens, Danny Pudi, Ron Funches, and Christina Kirk.

Powerless changed form from what many fans first saw during the show’s panel at last July’s San Diego Comic-Con. Executive producer Patrick Schumacker had been working on developing an earlier iteration of Powerless with former show runner Ben Queen. Even though the initial pilot was extremely well-received, some major changes to the series occurred that resulted in the version which premiered on NBC. The major change was in the characters’ workplace. Formerly set at an insurance firm (Retcon Insurance), the version of Powerless we saw on the network took place at Wayne Security.
