REPLICAS (2017): Thomas Middleditch to Join Cast

Thomas Middleditch Replicas

Thomas Middleditch cast in Replicas. Thomas Middleditch gained fame- and a recent Emmy nomination- from his role as Richard Hendricks in Silicon Valley, and yesterday it was announced that he will be joining the cast of Replicas, which is set to begin production this summer.

According to IMDb, the storyline of Replicas is as follows: “A daring synthetic biologist who, after a car accident kills his family, will stop at nothing to bring them back, even if it means pitting himself against a government-controlled laboratory, a police task force and the physical laws of science.” This sci-fi thriller story was developed by Stephen Hamel and penned by Chad St. John, and it will be directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff. Producers are Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Reeves, Stephen Hamel, and Ara Keshishian. Keanu Reeves is set to star as the story’s grieving and desperate scientist, with Alice Eve in the role of his  deceased wife.

Keanu Reeves has been attached to the project for quite a while now; THR reported his casting in 2014. At that point, production was set to begin in the spring of 2015 under a different director. Reeves has remained attached to the project despite changes made in its schedule and directors and through the addition of more cast members. Although it was reported yesterday that Thomas Middleditch will join the cast, the part he will play is as of yet unspecified. In addition, we have not heard any word of other actors set to join, despite the fact that production of the film supposedly begins this summer.
