Production Officially Confirmed For Season 3 Of Rick And Morty
Rick and Morty writer Mike McMahan reveals that Cartoon Network has decided to start production on the show’s third season.
Since its premiere on the network’s Adult Swim programming block in 2013, the animated series has cultivated quite the fandom with its absurdist humor and imaginative sensibilities. Indeed, it was this consistent performance that led Cartoon Network to move ahead with renewing the show for a third season a mere three episodes into season 2. Yet in spite of this early commitment by the network, the second season wrapped up in late 2015 and no word was given on the third season, leaving fans to ponder when the show would return.
Fortunately for them, it seems Cartoon Network hasn’t forgotten the faithful, as McMahan shared a photo of the first episode of the third season’s script on Twitter.
CBR.com, the source of this story, added the following about what series co-creator Dan Harmon had to say regarding the extended delay:
Speaking recently at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, Harmon personally accepted his share of the blame for the long wait for the show’s third season, alongside co-creator Roiland, saying, “‘Rick and Morty’ keeps taking longer and longer to write, and I don’t know why.”
