RUE (2016) Short Film: A Killer Wraith is Summoned By Its Victims’ Shameful Regrets

Morgan Taylor Campbell Rue

Rue Short Film

Derek Franson‘s Rue (2016) short film stars Morgan Taylor Campbell and Brad Dryborough. Rue‘s plot synopsis: “Enraged by an unseemly love affair between best friend and teacher, a student carelessly awakens a wraith that feeds on its victims’ most shameful regrets.”

Short films are getting better (year after year) in terms of production value and acting. HD cameras are getting cheaper and directors are using shorts to potentially sell the concept of feature films to movie studios.

Rue is the latest example of that but also of great production and emoting by its on-screen talent. Campbell really sells what her character is going through emotionally (think Piper Perabo in Lost and Delirious) and when the horror aspects of the short begin to take shape.
