Gregg Sulkin on Shooting Runaways and Playing Chase

Marvel’s upcoming series Runaways for Hulu has already begun filming, but just how close will the show be to the comics? Well, actor Gregg Sulkin, who portrays Chase in the series, gave some answers about the show as well as how different his character will be from the comics.

Gregg Sulkin recently appeared at Wizard World in Philadelphia and spoke at a panel regarding the new series Runaways. Pop-Culturalist covered the panel and got some information about the adaptation and how similar and different it will be from it’s comic counterpart. Sulkin said that after he and the cast shot the pilot back in February with no clue if the show would be picked up. After getting the news of getting a full season, the actor explained that the cast would be heading out to Los Angeles in three weeks to begin filming the first season.

When Gregg first signed up for the show, he didn’t receive a script. Just knowing that EP Josh Schwartz would be involved was enough for him to get involved with the series. Regarding how faithful the series will be to the comics, Sulkin said that Josh and Stephanie Savage plan to stay true to the comics while also making it their own. Knowing how much Chase means to a lot of fans, Sulkin added that he hopes he does the character justice as it’s his responsibility to portray him well. Out of all the characters, Sulkin said that Chase is probably the one who changes the most. In the comics, he is stereotyped as the dumb jock, but he hopes that Chase becomes more layered as the series progresses.

We still don’t have a release date yet for the series, but since they will begin shooting in three weeks, we hope to get more information soon.
