SALINGER (2013) Movie Trailer: Shane Salerno’s JD Salinger Documentary

JD Salinger

Salinger Trailer. Shane Salerno‘s Salinger (2013) movie trailer stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Edward Norton, John Cusack, Martin Sheen, and Tom Wolfe. Salinger‘s plot synopsis: “An unprecedented look inside the private world of J.D. Salinger, the reclusive author of The Catcher in the Rye. Shane Salerno’s Salinger features interviews with 150 subjects including Salinger’s friends, colleagues and members of his inner circle who have never spoken on the record before as well as film footage, photographs and other material that has never been seen. The film is the first work to get beyond the Catcher in the Rye author’s meticulously built up wall: his childhood, painstaking work methods, marriages, private world and the secrets he left behind after his death in 2010.”

On the documentary:

The documentary was written and directed by Salerno and filmed by Buddy Squires. The new documentary, financed by Shane Salerno, is based on the Salinger biography by Paul Alexander Salinger: A Biography. Because of the depth of reach conducted, Salerno “uncovered enough material that a 700-page companion book, The Private War of J. D. Salinger, co-authored by David Shields is coming as well.” Of the new documentary, Salerno says that it “will substantially rewrite the record of J. D. Salinger’s life, and correct many inaccurate stories that have been told for decades.” The proof of that assertion lies in the documentary itself.
