MTV Considering Rebooting Scream Series For Its Third Season
MTV is giving serious thought to completely rebooting the third season of the network’s horror-comedy TV series Scream and hiring new actors for it.
Funnily enough, the show itself is a reboot of sorts of the film series of the same name. The first Scream movie, which debuted in 1996, proved to be a critical and box office success and spawned a franchise that lasted until 2011, although only the sequel Scream 2 approached anywhere near the level of success of the original film.
If MTV goes through with the sure-to-be controversial move, then it will also bring in a new showrunner to oversee production on the program. However, one can only guess who the network will bring in for the position at this point, much less who it will bring in to replace the current cast.

The first season had 10 episodes and the second season, 13. Season 3 of the Scream series was recently picked up for six additional episodes. The second season of the show had a rather large ratings drop. The first two seasons had different showrunners with Jill Blotevogal and Jaime Paglia on season 1 and Michael Gans and Richard Register on season 2.
As we reported yesterday, Willa Fitzgerald, who plays Emma Duvall on the series, just booked a role in the upcoming pilot Behind Enemy Lines, also based on a film.
