Netflix Decides To Pass On Renewing Sense8 For Third Season

Netflix has opted to cancel the streaming service’s original drama Sense8 after just two seasons and a Christmas special.

The news comes a week after it was revealed that Netflix would similarly pass on renewing another of its in-house productions, The Get Down, for another season. Additionally, it comes in the wake of the company’s CEO Reed Hastings saying that the service should “have a higher cancel rate” for its original content during an interview with CNBC. Hastings’ statement will definitely concern fans of the company’s original programming, as it means the chances of their favorite show being canceled are much higher than before.

From creators J. Michael Straczynski, Grant Hill, and the Wachowskis, the program revolved around eight characters from all over the world who are bound together by a shared mental vision and must work together to protect themselves from those who wish to do them harm.

Per Comingsoon.net, the source of this story:

“After 23 episodes, 16 cities and 13 countries, the story of the Sense8 cluster is coming to an end,” said Cindy Holland, Netflix’s vice president of original content. “It is everything we and the fans dreamed it would be: bold, emotional, stunning, kick ass, and outright unforgettable,” she continued. “Never has there been a more truly global show with an equally diverse and international cast and crew, which is only mirrored by the connected community of deeply passionate fans all around the world.
