SPECTRE (2015) Movie Featurette: “Exclusive Spectre Vlog” Explores Thames Action

"Spectre Exclusive Vlog"

Spectre “Exclusive Spectre Vlog”. Sam Mendes‘s Spectre (2015) movie featurette entitled “Exclusive Spectre Vlog” has been released. In this video, we see Westminster bridge getting closed for a night of shooting, as Emma Pill – location manager – tells us. Meanwhile, the associate producer, Gregg Wilson, tells us that “London is another character in the film” (a claim made by thousands of producers in the marketing of their product, a claim which is actually apt for modern Bond films, however).

Callum McDougall – executive producer – tells us that “the United Kingdom is the home of Bond” and that “London plays a very important part in that”. The production designer, Dennis Gassner, claims that director Sam Mendes “is fantastic at showing the city of London off”. Finally, Sam Mendes himself says he sometimes wants it to look magnificent, sometimes eerie, sometimes frightening, which is nice to hear.

These are, of course, highly edited sound-bite marketing clips, meant to catch the attention of the industry as a sort of “check us out, everyone”. I thoroughly enjoy these things, of course, as I’m a big Special Features kind of DVD-age consumer. It would be great, though, to get a longer Making Of, instead of these ridiculous snippets. Surely, the Blu-Ray will satisfy that want. I just can’t wait to see the film itself.
