SPIDER-MAN (2017): New Film Won’t Be an Origin Story

Spider-Man Reboot

New Spider-Man Movie Won’t Retell Origin of Peter Parker. For all of us worrying that we may see another origin story of Spider-Man for the new film, well fear not because according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, the new reboot of the web-slinger won’t become one.

Talking with CraveOnline on the new Spider-Man reboot, Feige assured everyone that we won’t be watching a new origin story, but rather it will be where the teenage superhero has already made a name for himself. “There is a young kid [already] running around New York City in a homemade version of the Spider-Man costume in the MCU,” says Feige. “You just don’t know it yet…In Spider-Man’s very specific case, where there have been two retellings of that origin in the last whatever it’s been – [thirteen] years – for us we are going to take it for granted that people know that, and the specifics.”

“It will not be an origin story,“ Feige continued. “But, with great power comes great responsibility. It is inherent to who his character is. But we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers.”

This comes out after the news went out that the film would keep Peter Parker in high school. As far as the costume goes, Feige teased that the outfit will be different than the last two film versions. “We’ve already designed the costume,” Feige said, “which is different than any of the ones that have come before. And yet ours is classic Spidey, as I think you’ll see.”

Casting is still underway for the new Spider-Man as he will make his first debut in next year’s Captain America: Civil War. The Spider-Man reboot will arrive in theaters on July 28. 2017.
