SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING (2017): Marvel To Retain Full Creative Control

Kevin Feige

Kevin Feige confirms that Marvel will have creative control over Spider-Man: Homecoming. The Marvel Studios President revealed that the company will regain control of the Spider-Man film franchise.

It was previously reported that Sony, which reached a deal with Marvel allowing the studio to make Spider-Man films set in it’s cinematic universe, would retain rights to creative control over such projects. Feige’s comments, however, indicate that the character has finally been reabsorbed back into the Marvel fold, something that will surely delight fans of the comic company.

In addition, the Marvel president had some gracious words for his counterparts at Sony, whom he was worked with for years:

“Well, I’ve known all those people for a very long time,” he tells HeyUGuys of Marvel’s relationship with Sony. “Amy Pascal, Tom Rothman, who runs Sony now, I’ve known for years. So, it’s been great. They really are supportive in allowing us to make the creative decisions to make [Spider-Man: Homecoming], but they’ve been great partners. So far so good on that movie.”

Another interesting titbit in the video is what the Marvel boss had to say about when we’ll next see Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, and it definitely sounds like we won’t have to wait until Avengers: Infinity War for the former S.H.I.E.L.D. director to return. “You’ll see him not in [Thor: Ragnarok], but an upcoming movie.” Which Phase 3 movie do you guys think will be the one to feature Fury?
