Star Trek 3’s New Starfleet Insignia Has Been Revealed. Justin Lin‘s Star Trek 3 (2016) has tweeted a photo of the new insignia found on the costumes of our familiar crew. The third entry into this rebooted franchise is comprised of the same on-screen crew, but behind the scenes, things have shifted around quite a bit.
First off, JJ Abrams is not at the helm. He has been busy directing The Force Awakens, and we are all glad he has been. Justin Lin has taken command of the directorial duties for this trilogy-capper, and amazingly enough, the wonderfully talented and intelligent Simon Pegg has taken over the writing along with Doug Jung. All of this is boding quite well, I must say, and I hope the film contains some semblance of intelligence regarding the plot, and some sense of competence by Lin taking over this starship of a franchise. So far, I think, so good.
Star Trek 3 will also star Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine, Sofia Boutella, Idris Elba, and Zachary Quinto.
