Woody Harrelson Discloses Name Of Han Solo Mentor For Star Wars Spin-Off
Academy Award-nominated The People vs. Larry Flynt actor Woody Harrelson shared the name of the character he is playing in the Star Wars Han Solo film.
Prior to this, Harrelson had seemed to indicate that the role he would be playing was none other than Garris Shrike, a character who appeared in the Star Wars Expanded Universe and served as a mentor to the young Solo. Conversely, there is no character by the name of Beckett that appears in the Star Wars literary franchise, but one by the somewhat similar name of Bek Natal did appear in a short story from 1995.
Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the door has been closed on Shrike’s involvement in the planned film. Prior to the release of Star Trek Into Darkness, Paramount Pictures denied up and down that Benedict Cumberbatch had been cast as Khan, maintaining that he was playing one John Harrison in the film. Harrison, of course, turned out to be a fake identity for the villain, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility that the Han Solo movie might do something similar.
