Daisy Ridley Sta Wars The Force Awakens Screen Test

Star Wars The Force Awakens A New Hope Comparison and Daisy Ridley Audition Videos. The comparison video of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015) and Star Wars: Episode III – A New Hope (1977) has been created by Zachary Antell. The video, officially titled “A New Awakening” – Star Wars Episode IV and VII Shot Comparison, tells everyone what they already know: many of the scenes in The Force Awakens hold distinct similarities with scenes in A New Hope. Many play out the same way while others are shot in a similar fashion.

The Daisy Ridley video is her screen test for The Force Awakens that got her the Rey role in the film. I have not watched many auditions tapes, just a few, but in the screen test (her interrogation by Kylo Ren), Ridley is able to conjure emotional responses from scratch, on queue, impressing everyone in the room.

There were other reasons that Ridley was chosen to portray to Rey. From the video, J.J. Abrams said:

What we were looking for was someone new. This character needed to be vulnerable and tough, sweet and terrified. And to find someone that no one knew who could do all these things took a lot of looking. It wasn’t until we found Daisy that we just felt like she was capable of doing all of these things this character required.
