The Stone (2010) Promo Movie Trailer has premiered. Actually, it premiered some time ago. Now that the movie trailer has been pulled by Overture Films, the promo trailer is all that is left online to view. Stone (2010) is directed by John Curran and stars Milla Jovovich, Edward Norton, and Robert De Niro. Stone‘s plot synopsis: “A ruthless convict engages in a series of disturbing mental games with his corrections officer in an attempt to gain parole. When the officer begins an affair with the convict’s wife, it soon becomes clear that both the convict and the officer’s motivations are suspect, provoking a dangerous ordeal.” The plot seems ridicules but entertaining at the same time. The NSFW promo trailer (swearing, brief nudity) gives too much away, too many of the twists, but they did the  same thing with the John Rambo promo trailer so its seems like a ever-growing marketing trend. I found this comment at Playlist on the plot hilarious: “despite the talent on screen the trailer plays like pretty much every third-tier thriller De Niro has gotten himself involved with in the latter part of his career.” Even if that is the case, I’m still looking forward to the film. I don’t expect it to be The Shawshank Redemption or A Prophet but it looks on the level with a decent episode of HBO’s Oz. The release date of Stone is TBA.
