STRONGER (2017) Movie Trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal Triumphs Over Boston Marathon Bombing Injuries

Stronger Trailer

David Gordon Green‘s Stronger (2017) movie trailer stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Tatiana Maslany, Clancy Brown, Miranda Richardson, and Frankie Shaw. Stronger‘s plot synopsis: based on the book by Jeff Bauman and Bret Witter, “Stronger is the inspiring true story of Jeff Bauman, an ordinary man who captured the hearts of his city and the world to become the symbol of hope following the infamous 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. Gyllenhaal stars as Jeff, a 27-year-old, working-class Boston man who was at the marathon to try and win back his ex-girlfriend Erin (Maslany). Waiting for her at the finish line when the blast occurs, he loses both his legs in the attack.

After regaining consciousness in the hospital, Jeff is able to help law enforcement identify one of the bombers, but his own battle has just begun. He tackles months of physical and emotional rehabilitation with the unwavering support of Erin and his family. It is Jeff’s deeply personal account of the heroic journey that tests a family’s bond, defines a community’s pride and inspires his inner courage to overcome devastating adversity. Filled with raw emotion, humanity and humor, Stronger is the inspirational real-life story of the man who became the living embodiment of ‘Boston Strong.'”

I had heard about this story previously but I never knew the relationship aspects of it until seeing this trailer. Jeff Bauman (Jake Gyllenhaal) is an extraordinary individual. Stronger‘s narrative looks as though in may tackle what happened at the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing in a far more effective and heart felt way than Patriots Day accomplished.

David Gordon Green places his camera in Bauman’s traumas, new reality, and recovery in such a way that the viewer feels uneasy, queasy. Green doesn’t want the viewer to be at ease while watching his latest film. He wants them to be affected by what they see, changed by it.

Green was able to accomplish that just in the trailer and through Gyllenhaal’s performance. Nominations anyone? Erin Hurley (Tatiana Maslany)’s journey with Bauman as he recovers looks as though it will be good as well.

Stronger also stars Maggie Castle, Acei Martin, Olivia Filleti, Michelle Romano, Owen Burke, Lexie Roth, Brina, Stephanie Atkinson, J.P. Valenti, and Jimmy LeBlanc.

Stronger‘s script was written by John Pollono.
