Wim WendersSubmergence (2017) movie trailer stars James McAvoy, Alicia Vikander, Alexander Siddig, Celyn Jones, and Mohamed Hakeemshady. Submergence‘s plot synopsis: based on the novel by J.M. Ledgard, “In a room with no windows on the eastern coast of Africa, an Englishman, James More, is held captive by jihadist fighters. Thousands of miles away in the Greenland Sea, Danielle Flinders prepares to dive in a submersible to the ocean floor. In their confines they are drawn back to the Christmas of the previous year, where a chance encounter on a beach in France led to an intense and enduring romance.”

This seemed like an ordinary romance film until James More (James McAvoy) spoke to two men at a museum. From that point, this trailer turned into something that I was not expecting, something more impactful than an ordinary love story.

The only way I see the parallel storylines working is if they are balanced but at the same time pushing against one another, upping the dramatic ante equally.
