Sully Trailer and Poster

Clint Eastwood‘s Sully (2016) movie trailer and movie poster star Tom Hanks, Anna Gunn, Aaron Eckhart, Sam Huntington, and Laura Linney. Sully‘s plot synopsis: based on the book by Captain Chesley B. Sullenberger III, “On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the “Miracle on the Hudson” when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger (Tom Hanks) glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.”

Captain Chesley B. ‘”Sully” Sullenberger III (Tom Hanks)’s story was everywhere when he landed on the Hudson River in 2009. In the A block of news casts across the country were the passangers that were being evacuated from US Airways 1549.

The fact that the viewer gets to see what Sully went through after he saved 155 people was a great move by the film’s writers (Todd Komarnicki, Chesley Sullenberger, and Jeffrey Zaslow). I had no idea about the behind-the-scenes drama (how could I?). Clint Eastwood showing key moments in Sully’s aviation past makes the film into a character study as well as a film about the “Miracle on the Hudson.”

The questioning, the interviews, etc. in Sully reminded me of Robert ZemeckisFlight, a film released in theaters three years after “Miracle on the Hudson.”

Sully also stars Autumn Reeser, Jerry Ferrara, Jeff Kober, Holt McCallany, Tracee Chimo, Chris Bauer, Mike O’Malley, Valerie Mahaffey, Gary Weeks, and Max Adler.
