SUPERGIRL: Katie McGrath To Play Lena Luthor [The CW]

Katie McGrath

Katie McGrath ready to join the cast of Supergirl. The Merlin and Jurassic World actress will have a recurring role as Lena Luthor in the second season of the CW superhero series.

According to the description put out by TVLine, the outlet that broke the news, Supergirl will be offering a unique take on the character. Moving to National City after her brother, Superman’s arch-nemesis Lex Luthor, is imprisoned, Lena takes over his vast corporate empire and attempts to turn it into a positive force. Although she seems to be earnest in her efforts to distance herself from his villainous brother, Kara must figure out on her own whether Lena is to be trusted or not:

The character previously appeared in live action on the hit series Smallville where it was revealed Cassidy Freeman’s Tess Mercer learned she was actually Lena Luthor.

Melissa Benoist leads the cast of Supergirl as the title character alongside Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lucy Lane (sister of Lois), David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, with Dean Cain and Helen Slater. Supergirl season two is also adding recurring roles for Lynda Carter as the President of the United States, Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer and Tyler Hoechlin as Superman.
