SUPERGIRL: Production Begins for Pilot Episode

Supergirl Starts Production for Pilot Episode. The pilot for CBSSupergirl has just started shooting today, according to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. The pilot is being directed by Glen Winter, known for helming episodes of other DC fare like Smallville, Arrow, and The Flash.

Andrew Kreisberg gave the first tweet for the first day of shooting saying, “Up, up and away!!!!” He also took a pic with fellow producer Geoff Johns, a comic book writer and Chief Creative Officer at DC Comics. In the picture, Kreisberg tweeted, “Can’t believe I’ve gotten to make three pilots with @geoffjohns.” The two worked together on both Arrow and The Flash.

Director Glen Winter also went on Twitter posting a picture of him with series star Melissa Benoist a day before production. Winter wrote, “Dear sweet @itsmmbenoist and I have an incredible adventure together that begins tomorrow!”

The series also stars Mehcad Brooks, Laura Benanti, Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh, David Harewood, Jeremy Jordan, and Dean Cain and Helen Slater in undisclosed roles.
