Supergirl Gets Picked Up By CBS. Supergirl has found its new home and it’s not where anyone would expect. After much speculation, the potential one-hour superhero drama was picked up by CBS and will be made by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros TV.
TVLine reported that the Eye Network has given a series commitment to Supergirl, which will focus on the DC Comics superheroine also known as Kara Zor-El. It will follow Superman’s cousin after she escaped from Krypton’s destruction and has been hiding on Earth for quite some time. After hiding her powers for so long, the 24-year-old Kara accepts her superhuman powers and becomes the hero she was meant to be. It remains to be seen if there will be a connection to the Man of Steel film where she was alluded without any presence from her character.
Greg Berlanti, who already has made The CW series Arrow and The Flash, will develop the potential show. Greg will pen the pilot episode with producer and writer Ali Adler, known for her work on the short-lived No Ordinary Family and NBC’s Chuck. The two will also be executive producers on the project along with Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Productions.
