Sydney Film Festival 2010 has been announced. The 57th Annual Sydney Film Festival is a film festival that “began in 1954, making it one of the longest running events of its kind in the world. The festival runs for two weeks each year in June and showcases Australian, international and alternative films.” The films in competition will be evaluated by a five judge panel.
British documentary filmmaker Lucy Walker, whose Countdown to Zero was screened at Cannes earlier this year, will be joining jury president Jan Chapman, the Australian producer of Bright Star and The Piano; John Cooper, director of the Sundance Film Festival; Australian director Shirley Barrett, whose South Solitary is the festival’s Opening Night presentation; and Hong Kong filmmaker Yonfan, whose Prince of Tears will have its Australian premiere at the Sydney festival.
The Sydney Film Festival 2010 will run from June 2-14, 2010.
